Who supervises the children overnight and what safeguarding measures are in place?

All Kirkham Camps guides specialise in working with children. They have undergone enhanced DBS checks and are fully trained in CPR and safeguarding. There will always be guides and ‘boarding parents’ supervising the children throughout the night.

What if my child needs to contact me during the residential, or I need to contact them?

Our guides will have 24/7 access to contact details for parents and guardians, and of course, parents will have a direct line to Kirkham Camps guides and boarding parents should they need to get a message to their child.

Does my child need to be experienced or skilled in rugby, hockey, or any sport to attend the camps?

They don’t have to be pros, but it would be beneficial if they have played rugby or hockey before as these camps are designed to push them further with existing skills.

What activities are included in the Adventure Weekend residential?

A final itinerary is on its way but activities planned include rock climbing, obstacle courses, archery, water sports, and problem-solving challenges to develop physical and mental resilience.

Are there options for children with different interests – not just sports-focused?

The Adventure Weekend features all sorts of fun activities - and you don't have to be super sporty to get involved!

Are girls welcome at all camps, including rugby-focused ones?

Girls are welcome at all Kirkham Camps residentials; however, we do require a minimum number of girls for The Rugby Experience to make it a viable camp. In the case that we don't reach the required numbers, your booking will be reimbursed, or we can move your child to an alternative camp.

What happens in the event of a medical emergency – how will I be informed and what support is available on-site?

Prior to your child/children arriving at Kirkham Camps for their chosen residential, each parent/guardian will be required to submit an Information Form. This form allows us to understand each child’s needs and helps us give them the best camp experience possible. There will also be a registered nurse on-site during the Rugby and Hockey camps.

Can parents attend the camp or stay overnight?

Parents are welcome to drop off their children but should not stay overnight as our residential camps are designed to foster independence and teamwork among the campers.

What if my child has dietary restrictions or allergies?

Please let us know in advance about any dietary restrictions or allergies on the Information Form. Our chefs will ensure appropriate meals are prepared to meet dietary needs, and we are happy to accommodate most requests.

Can my child bring electronic devices or mobile phones to the camp?

We recommend limiting electronic devices, as we encourage children to disconnect and fully engage with the camp activities. Mobile phones can be brought, but they must remain in the designated areas and should not be used during camp activities.
