Today, Kirkham Grammar School held a whole school Fundraising Day to raise funds for Lyme Disease Action (LDA). Ex-pupil, Sophie Ward, spoke candidly in an assembly about her own experience of living with the disease. Lyme Disease is a debilitating disease caused by bacterium, transmitted by ticks. The money we have raised today will contribute towards the Spotlight Project run by LDA. They are a non-profit organisation supporting people with Lyme disease, educating and raising awareness of the symptoms with the general public and working with healthcare professionals to speed up diagnosis and treatment as the disease is often misdiagnosed.
The fundraising day involved all pupils completing a physical House Challenge in their year groups, requiring teamwork, strategy and speed. Staff v Sixth Form netball and football matches also took place at lunchtime.
Thank you to Sophie for visiting school today and to our whole school community for your support in helping to raise money for this very worthwhile cause.
