On Wednesday evening, Kirkham Grammar School Upper Sixth Form student, CCF Cadet RSM and recently appointed Lord Lieutenant's Cadet, Abigail, attended an awards ceremony for people who were being honoured on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen by the Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire.
Also in attendance at the awards was Old Kirkhamian, Sophie, who was accompanying her dad, Peter, who received a British Empire Medal for his services to athletics. Peter assisted with coaching of Athletics at Kirkham Grammar School over a number of years.
Sophie, who received the Lord Lieutenant's Certificate of Meritorious Cadet Service in June 2016 during her time at KGS (see photograph above left), has recently graduated from Edge Hill University with a First Class Honours Degree in Sports Coaching & Development and has just started a Masters in Mental Health in Sport at Edge Hill University.
