We were very privileged to have been matched with Giant Digital Ltd for this year's BIMA Digital Day.
BIMA is the voice of digital and tech. They represent a community of businesses, charities and academia across the UK. They drive innovation through knowledge sharing, showcasing best practice and developing talent.
Each year they organise a competition, BIMA Digital Day. The only initiative of its kind, BIMA Digital Day gives 11-16 year olds an insight into a world of digital careers. Pupils compete in a sponsored, nationwide digital challenge for a chance to win £500 cash for their school and some fantastic prizes for themselves.
Giant Digital Limited are a friendly, highly dedicated team with a passion for helping charitable and ethical organisations achieve their goals.
They strongly believe that technology can be a power for good. They use their digital know-how to design innovative websites and platforms that support their clients in delivering positive social and environmental change across the world, whilst ensuring optimum return on investment.
Established in 2011, they have over a decade of experience working with charities and non-profit organisations to develop tailored digital solutions that raise their profile, deliver great return on investment, and help bring about positive change.
Jon Atkinson, Old Kirkhamian and Founder and Chief Technical Director, Lalita D'Cruze - Projects Director and Ben Armstead, Old Kirkhamian and Software Engineer, spent the day with thirty Third Year pupils working on the challenges set by BIMA with the focus on problems set by Royal Mail and Primark.
The pupils worked hard throughout the day, in teams of four or five, researching, designing and then finally presenting their ideas at the end of the day, Dragon's Den style!
A winning idea was chosen for each problem and these ideas will be refined and submitted for the competition in December 2022.
Thank you once again to Jon and his team at Giant Digital Limited – it was a great experience for all.
Hopefully Jon found the QR code link where he was 'Rick Rolled' as funny as the pupils did!
