KGS Head of Rugby, Mr Trenhaile, joins Fylde RFC's Senior Coaching Team
The first XV coaching team at Fylde RFC has been boosted by the addition of Mr Trenhaile for 2021/22. Mr Trenhaile was appointed Head of Rugby at Kirkham Grammar School in 2007, having been a teacher and rugby coach here since 1991.
Mr Trenhaile has also coached the Lancashire and North of England squads at both Under 16 and Under 18 levels and played a key role in developing many elite players and future internationals.
Those he coached at KGS include Fylde’s former head coach, Warren Spragg and new head coaching duo, Chris Briers and Alex Loney.
Mr Trenhaile, who had worked with KGS’ highly-regarded Head of Rugby, Brian Gornall, before taking the role himself, said: “I hold the traditions, history and reputation of the club in high esteem. I’ve known Chris and Alex for a long time. I think I can support them and the squad by bringing my experience and maybe a rather different approach to complement their methods and ideas. I’m looking forward to the new season with great enthusiasm”
Several members of the senior Fylde RFC squad are former KGS players, including captain, Ben Gregory.
Alex Loney said: “We’re really pleased that Aled has joined Chris and I. He has an excellent knowledge of the game, whilst being a skilled coach, and will add plenty of value in a variety of ways. Aled has been a regular visitor to the Woodlands in recent years and he clearly has a good understanding of our playing style and the squad.”
Fylde RFC's Chairman of Rugby, Dave Young, added: “We are very fortunate that Aled is joining us. He has a great record in schools coaching and really strengthens our coaching resources. This is a very good development for the club and its playing squad.”
