26 November 2020
As we approach the end of a very difficult year and whilst we continue to face challenges, we would like to turn our attention to helping others in our local community.
Staff and pupils are going to be involved in a number of activities over the coming weeks to give our care and support to the people in our local community who are a lot less fortunate than ourselves.
Our plans include:
- Collecting food with long sell by dates to donate to our local food banks;
- Collecting new toys for children whose families cannot afford to buy them;
- Sending homemade cards and care packages to vulnerable people in our community;
- Providing festive entertainment to care homes by recording a selection of poems, drama pieces and music all performed by our pupils;
- Pupils completing 2262 miles in their games lessons to reach Lapland before we finish for the Christmas holidays;
- Planning events and projects on a regular basis to support a variety of worthwhile causes throughout the year through the Kirkham Grammar School Community Trust.
How you can help:
You can choose to support our charity effort by sending in tinned food or a toy or making a monetary donation to our Charity account (see details below) to support our pupils' efforts to reach Lapland and to wear their Christmas Jumper to school on Friday 11 December. Every penny we raise will be used to buy and make up care packages or go direct to local charities, including food banks and Streetlife.
If you have an elderly neighbour or relative who lives alone or if you would like to nominate a care home (and their staff) who would appreciate KGS reaching out to them, please send the details to: a.wadeson@kirkhamgrammar.co.uk by Friday 4 December. Please also include the name of your son/daughter with your nomination and whether they are able to deliver the package themselves.
Please make your donation to our Charity account Kirkham Grammar School Community Trust. Account Name: Kirkham Grammar School, sort code: 01-04-84, account number: 74800841. Please reference your payment as Charity, with your child's name. You can also pay via the School Shop 01772 688118.
We will keep you updated with our progress by sending you regular tweets of our donation totals, the care homes we are supporting and the charities that will benefit from our school community's generosity. We will also share our 'Festive Video' at the end of this term.
We hope you will get behind our campaign to bring a smile to those who really need our support this Christmas.
