Over the last two weeks of this term, Kirkham Grammar School have been raising money for 'Marie Curie' who believe everyone living with a terminal illness should be able to get the most from the time they have left, however hard that may sometimes feel. Their frontline nurses, hospices and free support line help terminal patients through their final years, months, days and hours of life – whether they have coronavirus, or any illness which they're likely to die from. Their bereavement service will be there for the people they leave behind.
We know that during the last twelve months, charities have struggled as they haven't been able to fundraise as normal. However, this hasn't stopped them doing the amazing work that they do.
The staff and pupils have sold special biscuits and cakes in the dining hall (a special thank you to Mrs Worth and Mrs Halloran for their cake donations); sold daffodil badges to pupils; organised individual year group activities; held a 'Wear Something Yellow Day' and sold hand-made masks and scrunchies.
For all donations made, either online or in a form collection, pupils were automatically entered into a draw for a bumper basket of Easter goodies donated by Beech's Fine Chocolates, Fox's Biscuits, Tesco, Morrisons and Kirkham Grammar School staff as a way of saying 'thank you'. Congratulations to Fifth Year pupils, Johnny and Dani, who both won a chocolate hamper!
